February, 2022

Are you finding ways to thrive, despite the conditions? I hope everyone is holding tight, keeping safe, healthy, and warm in 2022.

Maybe my good news report this month will help you to feel positive, knowing I’m growing dances to share with you!

What an honor to have been invited to participate in these upcoming local happenings - February continues to bring abundance!

I am listing them below by date. Mark your calendars! Some events are free and accessible through Zoom, and require preregistration; others are live and in person.

  • Thursday, February 10, 6-7PM - Free NOURISH movement session taught over Zoom through the Cambridge Public Library If you’ve wondered what NOURISH movement practices are like from the comfort of your home, this is a great little taste.

  • Friday, February 25, 12PM - Northeastern University’s College of Arts, Media & Design hosts a Zoom panel discussion about Dance and Design, titled Designing Dance: Embodiment, Ephemerality, and Experience, hosted by Nicole Zizzi, Ilya Vidrin, and Laura Perovich; featuring myself, Sydney Skybetter, and Lauren Bedel

  • Friday, February 25, 8PM NACHMO Boston - Live dance performance at the Somerville Armory! Tickets (suggested $20) available HERE, with proof of vaccination. I will perform a new excerpt of a much larger piece I have been developing since September, based on my NOURISH research over the past year.

  • Saturday, March 19, 8PM - RDDI New England Now Dance Platform - ICA Boston - Few tickets are left for this showcase event, one of three live concerts with my RDDI cohorts and curated choreographers. I am performing my new solo (!) on the 19, and will be present (perhaps even guest performing?) for the 18 and 20th performances. The new dance features costume design by Clementine Cummer, and Dramaturgy by Grace Mi-He Lee. There are other additional tickets available through Global Arts Live. Must mask and show proof of vaccination to attend.

  • Ongoing through early March, an excerpt of my 2019 solo, "Come To Me (Now That I’m Back)" will be screened in the studiofront window of The Dance Complex, in their Windows on a Winter outdoor showings, 536 Mass Avenue, Cambridge, MA at dusk, sporadically. Come by and see a glimpse of my dance and videos and images of other fabulous Dance Complex dances from the sidewalk!

Other great news, I received an Artist in Residency through Somerville Art Assembled. Art Assembled is a project of the Somerville Arts Council with support from Federal Reality/Assembly Row. I was awarded 100 hours of subsidized rehearsal space in Assembly Square, enabling me to delve into new dance projects this spring. I am so pleased to also announce a grant award from the Arlington Cultural Council in support of NOURISH at LexFarm for this year’s growing season. Additionally, NEFA's New England Dance Fund grant will help support my expanding administrative needs.

Thank you for being a part of my support team and joining in these happy happenings. I love hearing back from you, and hope to see you soon!
