March, 2021
Things are changing! I received my first vaccination at Gillette Stadium today, my children will be at school full time on Monday, and spring is here! I started to meet with the Regional Dance Development Initiative (RDDI) cohort, and we have so much to share about dance in New England after this past year. I will be teaching a Lecture/Demonstration at Coppin State University, a Historically Black University in Baltimore, MD, through Professor Celia Weiss Bambara, who I met last year when we performed at New York’s Open Studios at Movement Research. I am excited to talk with undergraduate dance majors and the Baltimore public about my choreographic outlook.
I was so inspired to collaborate with photographer Mel Taing to make promotional images for Nourish. Mel has a gift for asking just the right creative and visual questions, and mirroring back my ideas to get us both on the same page, aesthetically. I thought I’d be nervous to go to her South End studio to be photographed unmasked, my first public venture in months! But Mel made the shoot safe and comfortable, and she designed some amazing sets to capture some stunning images.
I’m gearing up for a full spring with my partnership with LexFarm, and my Residency at Subcircle coming up in June.
Monkeyhouse’s Nicole Harris gave me the honor of interviewing me for their NACHMO Boston 2021 programming!
